Our executive team has over 30 years of experience in the bar, restaurant, and nightlife industry. With a mission of creating authentic experiences, City Farm specializes in a unique brand of hospitality and entertainment. We design thoughtful spaces and make them come alive with exceptional service and equally inspiring food and beverage programs focusing on fresh ingredients and local suppliers.
Jim Carden - Founder and CEO
After a career in the film industry, Jim opened his first bar, Floyd, NY in 2004 with partners Andy Templar and Sean Neill. The timing was just right for the Brooklyn Heights burgeoning nightlife scene, and the instant success of Floyd, NY got him thinking about the next business opportunities. He would go on to build Union Hall and The Bell House before founding City Farm Corp and laying the groundwork for the growth of the fledgling hospitality group. In the course of twelve years he went from employing a handful of bartenders to over one hundred employees company-wide.
Kevin Avanzato - Chief of Operations
Kevin got the typical service industry start at sixteen, scrubbing dishes, and throughout the years that followed became a journeyman of sorts, having held many of the positions the industry has to offer. After moving to Brooklyn in 2004 he joined with Carden and Templar to help create Union Hall and the Bell House and acted as General Manager of both before becoming a partner in City Farm Corp. Together with Jim and the team, he helps develop and design new concepts, create and implement systems, and oversees the operations of all City Farm properties.
Sean Hill - Chief Financial Officer
Sean began his career in the industry washing dishes at a local bar as a teenager, but after over twenty years as a New Yorker, he has since gone on to work at some the city’s most prestigious establishments. Combining on his experience as a General Manager for both BRGuest (Blue Water Grill & Ocean Grill) and Frankies Spuntino, Sean brings a passion for multi-property hospitality, high volume and operational structure, as well as a hands on approach to ownership and management. Sean has become instrumental in overseeing financial and operational aspects of the City Farm properties.
